Maps
Here are a few maps to help orient you on where the Gold Coast of Costa Rica is located.
Costa Rica is located in Central Ameria, bordered by Nicaragua on the north and Panama on the south. The east coast is on the Caribbean and the west coast is on the Pacific Ocean.
There are seven provinces in Costa Rica.
Guancaste and the Gold Coast are on the North Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
The Gold Coast beaches are less than an hour South of Liberia - the capital of the province and the location of the only other international airport outside of San Jose.
The Gold Coast beaches start with Playa Grande, which is just north of Tamarindo, the big surf city and the location of the regional airport. The spectacular Gold Coast beaches continue up past Sugar Beach until they get separated from the larger northern towns, like Playas del Coco, by Punta Zapatol.
